We have been lighting them for several extra hours at night lately, and the cold weather has not really affected their egg production yet. :-) I have never had these breeds before, but they are doing great so far. :p We are up to our neck in eggs! So, I would happily include a dozen or two of eggs if you purchase multiple hens. As a result, I grossly overestimated my family's egg eating abilities/underestimated these hens laying abilities. They have been laying a ton of eggs since the end of October/beginning of November. 2 of the darker ones turned into roosters, so we ended up with 18 hens. I am not sure which are which breed-wise now as the pictures on Google that I have found seem to be used interchangeably between the 2 breeds, however the one type is a darker more solid brown than the others.
